About Maddie
Hi! My name is Maddie Renfroe, and I have recently joined the new and growing Cattlemen’s Days Royalty Committee! I was born and partially raised in Danville, Arkansas, and moved to Gunnison in 2018, where my love for the western industry continued to grow even stronger.
Once I moved to Gunnison, I quickly became involved in the local barrel racing club, 4-H, as well as FFA. Becoming more involved in the western industry is what has led me to where I am today, and I will always be so thankful to everyone in Gunnison who has helped me grow into the person I am today.
I am a dedicated local known for my strong work ethic, leadership, and commitment to my community. With experience in property management, event coordination, and customer service, I take pride in creating smooth operations and building positive relationships with those around me. I am highly organized, dependable, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure every detail is handled with care.
I held the 2023 Cattlemen’s Days Queen title, and since then, I have developed a passion for helping young girls achieve their dream of holding the title and becoming the best they can be throughout the process.
I am passionate about community involvement and enjoy bringing people together through local events and traditions. My work with rodeo royalty events, community gatherings, and property management reflects my ability to balance professionalism with a personal touch. I am recognized for my positive attitude, clear communication, and ability to adapt to any challenge that comes my way.
Whether I am managing projects, supporting my team, or contributing to local events, I approach everything with dedication, integrity, and enthusiasm.
Margo Schaffer
Royalty Program Co-Coordinator
About Margo
My name is Margo Schaffer and I am a co-coordinator for the Gunnison Cattlemen’s Days Rodeo Royalty. I had the honor of being the 2024 Cattlemen’s Days Rodeo Queen so I am super excited to be on the current committee, helping the current and future royalty perform their best.
I am a 21-year-old rodeo athlete raised in Gunnison, Colorado. I have been competing in barrel racing and pole bending as well as several other smaller rodeo events for about 6 years. I started my rodeo journey around age 12 doing trick-riding but moved onto barrel racing in following years.
I’m currently working as a part-time Associate Banker for Community Banks of Colorado in Crested Butte. The other half of my schedule you’ll find me training at the arena or helping my husband range riding for a cattle operation.
Given my past experience, holding a title in royalty, I am knowledgeable on what little details need attention for our queen, princess, and jr. miss position holders. A support team is the best foundation for these young ladies to be successful in their positions. I am thrilled to have this opportunity to help organize our local royalty program along with two other wonderful, talented women.
Sara Dobie
Royalty Committee Member & Support
About Sara
Howdy all! My name is Sara Dobie (Coblentz). I was born and raised in the Gunnison Valley, a place that has always held my heart. Although I spent some time away, that time only deepened my appreciation for the western lifestyle and the strong sense of community that makes Gunnison so special.
First and foremost, I’m a mom to two wild and wonderful kiddos and a wife to the man I knew I was going to marry when I was just 12 years old. Professionally, I work as a nurse in the Surgical Department at Gunnison Valley Health, and in my spare time I enjoy hobby photography and staying connected to the western way of life that shaped me.
Rodeo has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up around the rodeo arena led me to compete in the rodeo queen world, where I had the honor of being crowned Cattlemen’s Days Queen in 2014. In 2016, I competed for Miss Rodeo Colorado and was honored to place as First Runner-Up. I’ve also had the opportunity to assist with the Colorado High School Rodeo media team during state finals. Through these experiences, I’ve grown both personally and professionally through public speaking, interviewing, horsemanship, and community involvement.
I am deeply passionate about helping create opportunities for the next generation of cowgirls and cowboys here in the valley. Being involved with this program allows me to give back to the community that raised me and to help build a strong foundation that will continue to grow for years to come. It’s an honor to be part of shaping the future of this program and supporting the young people who will carry these traditions forward.
